The Beginning

My name is David Jarred and I am the owner of Drago Productions, LLC (“Drago”).
Drago Productions is in the business of producing one (1) to two (2) day special events based on various themes – such as the Renaissance.  The mission statement for Drago is to provide enjoyable and memorable entertainment based around various themes for the entire family as well as the participants at an affordable price.  Below is some history and information I’d like to share with you.
I was afforded an opportunity early in 2009 where I was asked to put together a Renaissance Festival for one weekend in the Central Valley with a few locations already identified and interested.  Since I have been a participant in various Faires for almost a decade, I had developed ideas for a faire if I had my own and now had the chance to put them into action.  First, my thought was to try to hold the Festival on a weekend with no other similar events going on in the surrounding areas.  Second, to have a Festival for all the participants - vendors, entertainers, volunteers, and guilds to be able to interact more with each other, the patrons, and enjoy themselves one last time before the close of faire season.  Third, to have a common theme throughout for all the various participants that centers on children and families.  Fourth, to help make the experience for the patrons feel as if they and their children were the knight or princess of the day.  To assist patrons so they have memorable moments that draw them back to the Festival year after year while continuing to bring their friends and family.  Finally, the Festival will say ‘thank you’ to the community by donating some of the net proceeds to one to two charities.  Now the 99 Renaissance Festival is a reality.

The 1st Annual 99 Renaissance Festival was held at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds (“Fair”), located in Stockton, CA on November 14 – 15, 2009.  Many friends (fellow participants), and family provided support and believe this will be a great event for various reasons.  It will be in a county from which many participants come to support other similar events that are produced throughout the year in various other parts of California.  It is centrally located in the ‘Valley’ with easy access from all directions that includes shorter travel times.  And most importantly, it will tap into a market that has not had any Faire produced anytime in the past.

Although 2009 was the first Festival, there was positive feedback and support from various guilds, entertainers, other event producers, vendors, and volunteers to assist in the endeavor.  I received positive reception from the Fair as well as the support companies involved to help make the first year a success.  They want to see it continue to be held at the Fair every year.  All in all, everyone was excited to have a Festival finally being held in Stockton.  In fact, several spread the news to various media and television stations as well as placed the Festival on various cities’ calendar of events.  The television program ‘Good Day Sacramento’ had Alan Sanchez broadcasting live from the Festival site and he stayed all morning in armor and all! The evening news picked up the information with a short video clip and shared it with the local communities. The Stockton Mayor Ann Johnston participated in Saturday morning’s opening day activities and it was grand!  Then Sunday morning had 18 delegates from Stockton’s sister cities in Asia at the opening ceremony and they stayed and enjoyed the Festival for most of the day.  The 2009 Festival made donations to the American Cancer Society and Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin.
For those of you who had been anxiously waiting for this event, your support is greatly appreciated!  I look forward to seeing many of you at the 2nd Annual Festival in 2010!
